UMBRAE are alkyd paintings done in all-brown tonalities which highlight a single pale blue form. The ground is tea dyed masa paper wrapped around small shallow wood blocks. Instead of being framed, the finished works are mounted on thin wood panels painted flat black.
The format presents these paintings as objects, rather than flat images. Their small scale invites close viewing, setting up a more conversational space between art and viewer.
